Amos Throop was a lifelong Universalist who believed that God's love included all people. For him, a church worked to bring about a loving and inclusive world. In 1886, he gathered a group of people together and founded a Universalist church.
Throop Church, one of this area's very first congregations, continues that vision today. We proudly stand for a liberal, inclusive, and welcoming way of being religious in the face of increasing dogmatism and intolerance.
We join with over 1000 congregations in the Unitarian Universalist Association to embody and demonstrate these Unitarian Universalist values to the wider community. |
